Tony Moly Cat’s Purrfect Night Mask Review

As a K-Beauty junkie, I’m always looking for new products to try. If they look cute and have good ingredients, they get bonus points. Naturally, for these reasons, I made a purchase of some Tony Moly products that I had been wanting to try. Keep reading to see mine and the Koreans’ thoughts on the TONYMOLY Cat’s Purrfect Night Mask!

Things to know about the Tony Moly Cat’s Purrfect Night Mask:

This product is formulated with the following ingredients that are good for your skin:
  • Niacinamide is also known as Vitamin B3, is an excellent ingredient for brightening the skin. This is the 4th ingredient on the list, so we know that there is quite a bit of it on the list.
  • Adenosine is an ingredient that is well known for its anti-wrinkle, and skin-soothing properties. Adenosine is also already a natural component of the human body so it is incredibly effective in the human body.
  • Allantoin is a moisturizer and exfoliant. If you are known to have dry and itchy skin, this ingredient is perfect for you. This ingredient can also help heal injured skin as it is an ingredient that is found in chamomile and beets.
  • Propolis Extract is an ingredient that comes from bees that has anti-bacterial and anti-viral properties. It can soothe, moisturize, and soften the skin. Plus, it has antioxidant properties and can control oil production.
This product is formulated with the following ingredients that are “bad”* for your skin:
  • Fruit Oils ( specifically Bergamot and Orange Peel): certain oils that are in formulas can be sensitizing to the skin. I have sensitivities to fruit oils, specifically to citrus, so I have to be careful, depending on the formulation.
Who is this product good for?
  • Those with dry skin
  • Those who want brighter skin
  • Those who have Post Inflammatory Hyper-pigmentation that they want to help heal

K-Points: 7/10

So, for beauty reviews, unlike my album unboxings, I will be much harsher on because this can directly impact your health, where buying K-Pop albums does not. It just impacts your wallet. As such, all of my beauty reviews will be out of 10 points. I will not be going over that number.

I absolutely love how cute this packaging is. It is excessive and truly just adorable. That being said, there is a flip side to that adorable, excessive packaging: it makes it hard to travel with, and it means more plastic that could be harming the environment. As for the formula, I wouldn’t say it is anything overly special. The consistency is nice. I didn’t find it particularly hydrating. It was nice though. Not my favorite Toly Moly product. It is definitely gimmicky.

What are the Koreans saying?

I was digging through reviews on 화해(Hwahae)**, a Korean skincare app that lists out the ingredients of products from many brands for people to look through as well as post reviews. Interestingly enough, I could not find this product on 화해 (Hwahae). I also was unable to find it on the Korean Tony Moly store website. So, it appears that this product is only available in the United States. My guess as to why that is: the Koreans are far pickier with their products, and this didn’t meet the grade. Additionally, they have more sensitive skin, and with all of the oils and fragrances in this, it has the potential to be irritating. So, it was probably not selling well there.

Where Can I Buy It?

Whenever I buy K-Beauty, I do shop at a couple of different places. If you want to see all of the places that I shop at, you can check them all out here.  I did pick this up off of Ulta. With Ulta, you can also use Rakuten for cash back off of your purchases on their site.

What is Rakuten?

Rakuten is a cashback site that gives you money for purchases you may have already made. They even have an extension for multiple browsers so when you go to a website that uses Rakuten, it will automatically pop up the cashback button to make sure you are saving money. I use this all the time, and I got over $80 back from them for purchases I was going to make anyway. That’s about 3 more albums I can buy!

If you’ve never used Rakuten before, you can use this link to get $10 when making a qualified purchase of $25 when using Rakuten. You will also get whatever percent cashback is being offered from the site you are purchasing from.  Sephora, typically has 4% cashback, through here. Ulta typically has 3%. These are just some of the companies on the website, but there are other major retailers on there as well!

Rakuten also has a Google Chrome extension that will tell you as soon as you log onto a site that has cashback with a little pop-up in the corner so that you can ensure you are saving money!

Have there been any K-Beauty Products you’ve tried that were specifically for the Western Market, K-Nuggets? Let me know in the comments down below!

*I put bad in quotes here because everything is subjective. Just because an ingredient that may have some amount of research on it that it can cause issues in the skin exists in a product says nothing about how it is processed and refined when making the product. It also says nothing about where that particular ingredient came from and the quality of that ingredient. It’s just like with cooking you can have all the same ingredients to start, but depending on what you do with those ingredients, you can get two completely different end products. Liah Yoo, Youtuber and now the owner of the brand Krave Beauty, made an excellent video talking about this. You can watch that here.

**Note: 화해 still only exists in Korean, but some of the products can be searched for in English.
