We are back, and talking about some more of my winter skincare. Throughout winter, I get to test more products than I do other times of the year, as I do a lot more layering of products because quite frankly, my skin needs more. I also go through products more quickly too because my skin sucks it all in. One of the serums that my skin has been sucking in is the SOME BY MI Snail Truecica Miracle Repair Serum. Keep reading to find ut some of the key ingredients in the product, the Koreans’ and my thoughts, and where you can get a bottle of this for yourself!
Things to know about SOME BY MI Snail Truecica Miracle Repair Serum:
This product is formulated with the following ingredients that are good for your skin:
- Snail Secretion Filtrate is a moisturizer and collagen stimulator. It also helps heal the skin and can be an excellent ingredient for those with acne scarring, based off of my experience.
- Niacinamide also known as Vitamin B3, is an excellent ingredient for brightening the skin. This is the 3rd ingredient on the list, so we know that there is quite a bit of it on the list.
- Bergamot Fruit Oil has astringent properties so it is excellent for acne prone skin and it can help stimulate skin cell renewal.
- Adenosine is an ingredient that is well known for its anti-wrinkle, skin soothing properties. Adenosine is also already a natural component of the human body so it is incredibly effective in the human body.
This product is formulated with the following ingredients that are “bad”* for your skin:
- There are fragrant components, linolene and linalool, in this product, which are known irritants to those with sensitive skin. That being said, they are the last ingredient on the list, the scent isn’t very strong in the product, and my skin (which is also sensitive has not reacted to it.
- Phenoxyethanol is also at the bottom of the ingredient list, and it is a preservative that is commonly used in cosmetics. In one study in animals, in incredibly high doses (200 times more than is used in skincare), it was seen as toxic. I would take this study with a serious grain of salt though because of the incredibly high concentration level, as anything can be toxic if you consume too much of it at one time. Heck, you can even drown yourself by consuming too much water. When looking through reports on this ingredient, negative reactions to this ingredient are incredibly rare, but, an allergy can develop to anything.
Who is this product good for?
- Those with any skin type
- Those with damaged skin
- Those that want brighter skin
K-Points: 7/10
So, for beauty reviews, unlike my album unboxings, I will be much harsher because this can directly impact your health, whereas buying K-Pop albums does not. It just impacts your wallet. As such, all of my beauty reviews will be out of 10 points. I will not be going over that number.
So, although I think that this serum feels nice, I’m not sure if it did a lot for my skin. I don’t find it particularily hydrating, but I didn’t expect it to be hydrating, since it’s for healing the skin. I cannot say for sure if I see much improvement in my dark spots. My skin tone does feel more even though. If you are going to use this and have drier skin, pair it with ingredients that are more moisturizing since this serum is 100% for repairing damage and doesn’t have any hydration boosters in it.
What are the Koreans saying?
I was digging through reviews on 화해 (Hwahae)**, a Korean skincare app that lists out the ingredients of products from many brands for people to look through as well as post reviews. Out of 5 stars and 19 reviews, the Koreans gave this product a 4.26 out of 5 stars. They really liked like the product and thought it was “exquisite” (in one reviewers words. They noted that it wasn’t irritating, didn’t smell too much like snail and didn’t make them feel oily. Their only downside was that when layering with creams, it didn’t layer well.
Where Can I Buy It?
Whenever I buy K-Beauty, I do shop at a couple of different places. If you want to see all of the places that I shop at, you can check them all out here. I don’t remember exactly where I bought this, but it may have been Style Korean or Olive Young. That being said, some of the places I do buy K-Beauty out, like Ulta and Sephora, you can also use Rakuten for cash back off of your purchases on their site.
What is Rakuten?
Rakuten is a cashback site that gives you money for purchases you may have already made. They even have an extension for multiple browsers so when you go to a website that uses Rakuten, it will automatically pop up the cashback button to make sure you are saving money. I use this all the time, and I got over $80 back from them for purchases I was going to make anyway. That’s about 3 more albums I can buy!
If you’ve never used Rakuten before, you can use this link to get $10 when making a qualified purchase of $25 when using Rakuten. You will also get whatever percent cashback is being offered from the site you are purchasing from. Sephora, typically has 4% cashback, through here. Ulta typically has 3%. These are just some of the companies on the website, but there are other major retailers on there as well!
Rakuten also has a Google Chrome extension that will tell you as soon as you log onto a site that has cashback with a little pop-up in the corner so that you can ensure you are saving money!

*I put bad in quotes here because everything is subjective. Just because an ingredient that may have some amount of research on it that it can cause issues in the skin exists in a product says nothing about how it is processed and refined when making the product. It also says nothing about where that particular ingredient came from and the quality of that ingredient. It’s just like with cooking you can have all the same ingredients to start, but depending on what you do with those ingredients, you can get two completely different end products.
