Okay, it is the end of August, which means that it is close enough to Christmas that I can talk about K-Pop Christmas albums right? Since people start shopping really early for presents or are looking for ideas (sometimes about now), I figured it is close enough that I can talk about EXO Winter Special 2016. I have already written a post on the 2018 Special, Universe. You can read that here, but please mind my writing, as this was one of my very first posts. I’ve grown since then.
Things to Know About EXO For Life The Winter Special 2016 Album:
For Life marks the fifth extended play of EXO. Released on December 19th, 2016 the mini-album consists of 5 tracks and features the title track “For Life” which currently has over 31 million views on Youtube. The album ranked at the top of the Gaon Weekly album chart and top of the Gaon Monthly Album Charts. On top of all of that, For Life became the third best selling album on the Gaon Charts in 2016 with over 430 copies sold.
- There is only one version of this album. It comes with both Korean and Chinese versions of the tracks
- Things that come with the album:
- 2 CDs: 1 in Chinese and 1 in Korean
- Photobook of all of the members ( I want to say it is like 70 some pages)
- Small photocard of a member (9 versions)
- Large postcard of a member (9versions)
- Second postcard of an EXO logo
- The last thing in the center is an EXO logo see-through sticker

K-Points: 338/5
Obviously I am biased on this, as I really love EXO, but out of my favorite looks on them, this one ranks up there. On top of that, their Winter Specials are always my favorite. But, if I am ranking absolute favorite EXO albums, this one is about 4 or 5 in regards to the concept. That is why it only got 338 out of 5 K-Points.
So, should you buy a copy of this album? I say get copies of all of their “regular” releases first, and make sure you are getting the repackages. After that, I would start filling in the Winter Specials (in no specific order). Then you can try for the non-repackage albums. After that, you can do whatever. In the meantime, I highly recommend that you stream the album, even though it is a winter special, not all of the songs are winter themed. They are simply nice, soothing ballads.
