ETUDE Soon Jung Cica Toner Relief Pad Review

I always do my best to keep toner pads on hand. You never know when you are going to need to just clean something off of your skin but also give it a little bit of moisture. So, when I made a purchase from ETUDE recently, I decided to expand my Soon Jung collection and try more products from the line. That is how the ETUDE Soon Jung Cica Toner Relief Pad. Keep reading to learn more about the product, the Koreans and my thoughts, and where you can find one yourself.

Things to know about the ETUDE Soon Jung Cica Toner Relief Pad:

I usually put something about the brand in my posts, so you can learn more about it, but in this scenario, ETUDE has a whole page about their products. You can read it here. I also have a series of posts on the Soon Jung line.

This product is formulated with the following ingredients that are good for your skin:
  • Propanediol is a humectant and emollient. It allows the skin to retain moisture and prevents water loss. On top of all of that, it is an ingredient that is known for being safe for acne-prone skin.
  • Glycerin is an ingredient in many skincare formulas that hydrates the skin by attracting other water particles to the deeper layers of the skin.
  • Panthenol also known as provitamin B5, is an excellent moisturizer that also has anti-inflammatory properties. A provitamin is the thing that comes before the vitamin and can convert easily into the vitamin. In this scenario, that vitamin is B5, also known as pantothenic acid.
  • Vitamin E is an antioxidant that seals in moisture and smoothes the skin. This ingredient can help heal the skin and protect it from the sun as well.
  • Madecassoside is one of the main compounds in Centella Asiatica. Centella Asiatica is an ingredient that is known for its wound-healing properties. Additionally, it has been known to help with the appearance of scars, and (although the sample size is small) may help with wrinkles too!
  • Camellia Sinensis Leaf Extract (Green Tea Leaf Extract) is rich in antioxidants that will help repair and rejuvenate collagen. Additionally, it is incredibly moisturizing and research shows that it has anti-bacterial properties.
This product is formulated with the following ingredients that are “bad”* for your skin:
  • There is nothing in this formula that is inherently bad for this skin, but please check the ingredient deck if you have allergies
Who is this product good for?
  • Those with sensitive skin
  • Those with dry skin

K-Points: 10/10

So, for beauty reviews, unlike my album unboxings, I will be much harsher on because this can directly impact your health, where buying K-Pop albums does not. It just impacts your wallet. As such, all of my beauty reviews will be out of 10 points. I will not be going over that number.

This product is so simple, but I absolutely love it. It is calming to the skin. It is effective and it just gets the job done. I catch myself reaching for these over other products whenever my skin is dry, but it has just a little bit of oil built up, or I get something on my face (such as hair dye from my crazy hair colors). I can’t dock any points from this as I will be repurchasing these.

What are the Koreans saying?

I was digging through reviews on 화해 (Hwahae)**, a Korean skincare app that lists out the ingredients of products from many brands for people to look through as well as post reviews. On Hwahae, this product has 4.3 out of 5 stars and 312 reviews. The reviews talked about how calming the product is. They also mentioned that you can use the pads as a toner pack and leave them on the skin for 10-15 minutes to spot treat readness. Honestly, they didn’t have too much negativity for the product except for the fact that the container is significantly bigger than the pad when you pull it out.

Where Can I Buy It?

Whenever I buy K-Beauty, I do shop at a couple of different places. If you want to see all of the places that I shop at, you can check them all out here.  Plus, with a number of places where I buy K-Beauty, you can also use Rakuten for cash back off of your purchases on their site.

What is Rakuten?

Rakuten is a cashback site that gives you money for purchases you may have already made. They even have an extension for multiple browsers so when you go to a website that uses Rakuten, it will automatically pop up the cashback button to make sure you are saving money. I use this all the time, and I got over $80 back from them for purchases I was going to make anyway. That’s about 3 more albums I can buy!

If you’ve never used Rakuten before, you can use this link to get $10 when making a qualified purchase of $25 when using Rakuten. You will also get whatever percent cashback is being offered from the site you are purchasing from.  Sephora, typically has 4% cashback, through here. Ulta typically has 3%. These are just some of the companies on the website, but there are other major retailers on there as well!

Rakuten also has a Google Chrome extension that will tell you as soon as you log onto a site that has cashback with a little pop-up in the corner so that you can ensure you are saving money!

*I put bad in quotes here because everything is subjective. Just because an ingredient that may have some amount of research on it that it can cause issues in the skin exists in a product says nothing about how it is processed and refined when making the product. It also says nothing about where that particular ingredient came from and the quality of that ingredient. It’s just like with cooking you can have all the same ingredients to start, but depending on what you do with those ingredients, you can get two completely different end products. Liah Yoo, a YouTuber and now the owner of the brand Krave Beauty, made an excellent video talking about this.

**Note: 화해 still only exists in Korean, but some of the products can be searched for in English.
