CLIV Premium Ginseng Berry Premium Essence Review

Off of this website, many of my family and friends know that I love any product that has the word “ginseng” in it. Heck, I am even drinking ginseng tea right now, and take ginseng supplements daily. When I saw the CLIV Premium Ginseng Berry Premium Essence, I knew I wanted to try it. Keep reading to find out what is in the formula, the Koreans’ and my thoughts, and where you can find it yourself.

Things to know about CLIV Premium Ginseng Berry Premium Essence:

This product is formulated with the following ingredients that are good for your skin:
  • Camellia Sinesis Leaf Extract (Green Tea Extract) is rich in antioxidants that will help repair and rejuvenate collagen. Additionally, it is incredibly moisturizing and research shows that it has anti-bacterial properties.
  • Panthenol also known as provitamin B5, is an excellent moisturizer that also has anti-inflammatory properties. A provitamin is the thing that comes before the vitamin, and can convert easily into the vitamin. In this scenario, that vitamin is B5, also known as pantothenic acid.
  • Adenosine is an ingredient that is well known for its anti-wrinkle, skin soothing properties. Adenosine is also already a natural component of the human body so it is incredibly effective in the human body.
  • Panax Ginseng Callus Culture Extract (Ginseng Extract) is full of antioxidant properties. It can prevent wrinkles, can help brighten skin, and help reduce inflammation.
This product is formulated with the following ingredients that are “bad”* for your skin:
  • Fragrance is the last ingredient on the list. There is an obvious smell to the product, but I have not experienced any sensitivity as a result.I have very sensitive skin, and my skin reacts to fragrance quite a bit, but it has not reacted to this one
  • Phenoxyethanol is also at the bottom of the ingredient list, and it is a preservative that is commonly used in cosmetics. In one study in animals, in incredibly high doses (200 times more than is used in skincare), it was seen as toxic. I would take this study with a serious grain of salt though because of the incredibly high concentration level, as anything can be toxic if you consume too much of it at one time. Heck, you can even drown yourself by consuming too much water. When looking through reports on this ingredient, negative reactions to this ingredient are incredibly rare, but, an allergy can develop to anything.
Who is this product good for?
  • All skin types, but especially those that want to brighten the skin
  • Those who have acne scars or spots

K-Points: 9/10

So, for beauty reviews, unlike my album unboxings, I will be much harsher because this can directly impact your health, where buying K-Pop albums does not. It just impacts your wallet. As such, all of my beauty reviews will be out of 10 points. I will not be going over that number.

Honestly, I really like product. Although it is an essence, it does have a bit of weight to it. It has body. Even with that body, it absorbs relatively quickly. Overall, I find it incredibly hydrating and refreshing to the skin. The only reason I am docking it points is because I still have essences that I like more, such as the Pyunkang Yul Essence Toner, far more.

What are the Koreans saying?

I was digging through reviews on 화해 (Hwahae)**, a Korean skincare app that lists out the ingredients of products from many brands for people to look through as well as post reviews. On Hwahae, this product only got 3.67 out fo 5 stars on a total of 9 reviews. Some of the Koreans were saying that they didn’t find it incredibly hydrating. They also said that the fragrance made their skin abit more sensitive which worried them.

Where Can I Buy It?

Whenever I buy K-Beauty, I do shop at a couple of different places. If you want to see all of the places that I shop at, you can check them all out here.  I picked this up from a sale on FabFitFun a little bit ago. If you’ve never used FabFitFun, you can also use Rakuten for cash back off of your purchases on their site.

What is Rakuten?

Rakuten is a cashback site that gives you money for purchases you may have already made. They even have an extension for multiple browsers so when you go to a website that uses Rakuten, it will automatically pop up the cashback button to make sure you are saving money. I use this all the time, and I got over $80 back from them for purchases I was going to make anyway. That’s about 3 more albums I can buy!

If you’ve never used Rakuten before, you can use this link to get $10 when making a qualified purchase of $25 when using Rakuten. You will also get whatever percent cashback is being offered from the site you are purchasing from.  Sephora, typically has 4% cashback, through here. Ulta typically has 3%. These are just some of the companies on the website, but there are other major retailers on there as well!

Rakuten also has a Google Chrome extension that will tell you as soon as you log onto a site that has cashback with a little pop-up in the corner so that you can ensure you are saving money!

*I put bad in quotes here because everything is subjective. Just because an ingredient that may have some amount of research on it that it can cause issues in the skin exists in a product says nothing about how it is processed and refined when making the product. It also says nothing about where that particular ingredient came from and the quality of that ingredient. It’s just like with cooking you can have all the same ingredients to start, but depending on what you do with those ingredients, you can get two completely different end products. Liah Yoo, a YouTuber and now the owner of the brand Krave Beauty, made an excellent video talking about this.

**Note: 화해 still only exists in Korean, but some of the products can be searched for in English.
