Etude House Matte Chic Lip Laquer Line Review

etude house lip laquer

Etude House recently launched a lip laquer line with their current models, the lovely ladies of Red Velvet. I’m a big fan of Red Velvet, particularly Joy and Wendy. They are my home girls. I also talked about how much I enjoyed their music in my review of the Perfect Velvet. Since they are my home girls, when I went on the website initially to buy the shades, I was only planning on getting the shades named after the lovely ladies of Red Velvet. Naturally, one thing led to another, and a week later I own all 12 shades.

I ordered these directly off of the Etude House website. You guys can see them here. Don’t ask me how I ended up with all 12. Things ha

Things to know about the Etude House Lip Lacquers:

  • The line has 12 shades as follows:
    • Peach Beige
    • Rose Pink
    • Wink Pink
    • Yeri Pink
    • Joy Grapefruit
    • Too Much Orange
    • Ready for Red
    • Seulgi Burgundy
    • Irene Red
    • Very Berry Plum
    • Wendy Brown
    • Romance Rose
  • These shades are perfect for spring and summer:
    • Wink Pink
    • Yeri Pink
    • Joy Grapefruit
    • Too Much Orange
  • These shades are perfect for fall and winter:
    • Peach Beige
    • Ready for Red
    • Seulgi Burgundy
    • Wendy Brown
    • Romance Rose
  • These shades are perfect all year round:
    • Irene Red
    • Rose Pink
    • Very Berry Plum
  • I placed these colors into these categories based on their undertones. Warmer undertones are typically better for spring and summer. Cooler undertones are better for fall and winter. Some of these shades I think will work with any outfit

What I love about these lip lacquers:

  • You can easily sheer them out if you don’t like super bold lips
  • You can also easily build them for full coverage
  • The packaging is very sleek, and the caps match the color inside, which makes it very easy to find the right shade early in the morning before coffee.
  • The applicator is shaped so that it hugs your lips easily.
  • You can do your full lips with one swipe, but may need more if you want thicker coverage
  • They lay on the lips very nicely, don’t crust up and are long-lasting.
  • They are also very lightweight and you will forget that it is there.
  • Once they dry, they don’t move.
  • The packaging is very easy to fit in your bag without taking up a ton of space.

What I don’t love:

  • They are not food proof. If you eat greasy food, you will need to reapply.
  • The names on the packaging are so tiny that they are hard to find, and they are just put on with a sticker. They aren’t printed on the packaging.
  • The applicator can apply too much of the product at one time, which is not good for early mornings before coffee.

K-Points: 457/5

When it comes to makeup, especially lipsticks, I will be very harsh, and no nonsense. I know what I like and I know what I hate. For lip laquers, I really love these. They are smooth, velvety, and also very pigmented, but not so pigmented that you can’t sheer them out. As someone who really likes to sheer lip products out, I also really like that these don’t dry so quickly that it is impossible to do. On top of that I think that the color selection is big,but not so big that it is overwhelming.

So, why didn’t this get more K-Points? The names are microscopic on the labels, and they do come off with food with relative ease. Other than all of that, this has become my first choice for lip color, and I wear them almost on a daily basis. They are exactly what I was looking for.
