Wanna One 1÷x=1 Undivided Review

wanna one undivided

Yesterday, Wanna One released a new mini album entitled Undivided. I got swamped at work, which is why this is a day late. If you’ve read any of my previous posts, you would know that I am a pretty big fan of Wanna One. One the bright side, it gave me plenty of time to listen to the album, over and over again. So, let’s get into Wanna One’s new release.

There are 6 versions of this album I picked up all 6 on Choice Music. You can pick up just one here for $18.99 plus shipping. Also, the set of all 6 is available here for $105.99 plus shipping. You can also pick up a copy on Amazon for  $24.90 here with free shipping if you are a Prime member. If you don’t have Amazon Prime, you can get a 30 day free trial using this link here. I will not lie, the free 2 day shipping, plus all of the free music and videos are totally worth it. Prime really is worth it. Pretty sure it will be cheaper on Choice in this situation.

Wanna One  Undivded Track by Track:

Light

This is the only track on the album that features the full group, and it is also the title track. It’s definitiely an electronic drance track, but it also has a wee bit of a funk sound. I actually really like this track! It’s fun, and I totally played it on repeat when I had to go get my driver’s license renewed today. It would get towards the end, and I was like NO! Start over! It probably already has about 20 plays on my phone, which is a lot considering it has only been on my phone since yesterday morning. As you can guess it made its way into not just one, but all of my playlists. Leave it to Wanna One to produce a great dance track.

Kangaroo (Produced by ZICO)

This song is produced by Block B’s Zico and features Kang Daniel, Kim Jae Hwan and Park Woo Jin (Triple Position sub-unit). You can hear ZICO’s influence immediately in the track. This track has more of chill, laidback rap vibe to it. It’s something that I can hear Block B producing, as well as iKON. I really enjoy this track as well. Good job, guys. The simple piano chords are to die for. It doesn’t have a heavy drum kit either. It simply has a light summer feel to it. This made it into 2 of my playlists.

Forever and A Day (Produced by NELL)

I love how simple this track is. After the introduction, it strips back to just a soloist, and a ukelele. It’s light, and simple, and more instruments get added in, like a guitar, and a wee bit of percussion. This then builds to add in a subtle piano arpeggios. This track features members: Yoon Ji Sung, Ha Sung Woon, and Hwang Min Hyun. I like the message of this song, and I like how the song really uses the instruments to build flow. Very well done.

Sandglass (Produced by Heize)

As you all may know, I am a HUGE Heize fan. I died over not just her most recent mini album, but also the packaging. Dude… she put a mini-Jenga game in it. That’s amazing. You can really hear her influence within 5 seconds of the track, as it sounds like something that would fit perfectly into her repetoire. This track only features Ong Seong Wu and Lee Dae Hwi. It also features Heize herself at one point. The track has the simple piano, the slightly breathy lyrics with lots of vocal flair. You can also hear the electric bass, my favorite instrument, pop through occasionally in the track. Love it. It has a jazz sound, which is typically my favorite.

11 (Eleven) (Produced by Dynamic Duo)

Featuring Lai Kuan Lin, Park Ji Hoon, and Bae Jin Young, this track is produced by Dynamic Duo (Choiza and Gaeko). I really love how they started this track with that sick R&B flair. The instrumentation on this track is also fire. The back track on this song is extremely complex, but every piece of it works together seamlessly. If I had to pick the track I like the least out of all the songs on here though, it is this one. This is only due to personal preference. I know a lot of people who will really love this track. This one just doesn’t resonate with me as much. I do still like it though.

K-Points: 522/5

I’m really impressed with this mini album.  Wanna One managed to cover 5 different styles of vocals, and have them all sound good. That is an extremely challenging feat. This mini album just makes me more excited to see everything that Wanna One has to show us. If they are able to cover all of these different styles with the members in their group, I wonder what else they can do.

Should you stream this mini-album? Absolutely. There is something for everyone on it. Should you buy a copy? Well, I wouldn’t complain about having a ton of pretty photos of these guys. Would you?
