I’m always up for trying new K-Beauty brands. I’m MEME is one of those brands that has recently caught my eye, as it comes from the same company as Kaja Beauty and Pony Effect. So, I figured – let’s see what they have and try a few things. This included a collection with limited edition packaging, the I’m MEME Retro Movie Collection. Keep reading to learn more about the collection, the Koreans’ and my thoughts, and where you can find one yourself.
Things to know about the I’m MEME Retro Movie Collection:
I’m MEME is a brand that is owned by Memebox Korea who also owns Kaja Beauty, I Dew Care, Nooni and Pony Effect. At Memebox, they operate on the philosophy of creating fun, innovative products through the use of data analytics and technology. The company likes to make their brands have unique personalities. They say on their website that “I’m MEME is ultra-portable, ultra-wearable makeup for everyday self-expression. Innovative and easy-to-use makeup products that bring fun and new experiences into your daily routine.”
There are 3 items total in the collection:
- I’m Afternoon Tea Shade 001 Forever (same as 01 Classic)
- Color Pattern Palette 001 Coral Pattern
- Mystery Blur Tint 002 Mystery Jujube (retired)
All of these products are a part of their regular collection. It is only the packaging that special.
What Complexions Do They Suit?
Warm Tones:
- Color Pattern Palette 001 Coral Pattern
All Skin Tones:
- Mystery Blur Tint 002 Mystery Jujube (retired)
- I’m Afternoon Tea Palette Shade 001 Forever
K-Points: 9/10
So, for beauty reviews, unlike my album unboxings, I will be much harsher because this can directly impact your health, where buying K-Pop albums does not. It just impacts your wallet. As such, all of my beauty reviews will be out of 10 points. I will not be going over that number.
The formulas on these products is very nice. I really love a good blush palette and the formula on these is very nice. Plus, I love how they made sure that the palette coordinated with the rest of the collection. The eye shadow palette is really cute and it is perfect for those who don’t want to think about their makeup too much. They give you a whole look in a collection. All that is needed is your favorite eyeliner and mascara, and you are good to go.
What are the Koreans saying?
I was digging through reviews on 화해 (Hwahae)*, a Korean skincare app that lists out the ingredients of products from many brands for people to look through as well as post reviews. So, instead of going through and talking about what the Koreans thought since there are 3 products, I will rank all 3 in order based on the number of reviews and stars. Also, I included the release date of the palettes so that you can that into account with the number of reviews.
X in Order of Popularity:
- I’m Afternoon Tea Shade 001 Forever (4.55 out of 5 stars, 22 reviews)
- Color Pattern Palette 001 Coral Pattern (3.79 out of 5 stars, 14 reviews)
- Mystery Blur Tint 002 Mystery Jujube (retired) (3.60 out of 5 stars, 5 reviews)
Where Can I Buy It?
Whenever I buy K-Beauty, I do shop at a couple of different places. If you want to see all of the places that I shop at, you can check them all out here. I picked these up at a number of different places, including Style Korean and Olive Young. With a number of the places I shop for cosmetics at, you can also use Rakuten for cash back off of your purchases on their site.
What is Rakuten?
Rakuten is a cashback site that gives you money for purchases you may have already made. They even have an extension for multiple browsers so when you go to a website that uses Rakuten, it will automatically pop up the cashback button to make sure you are saving money. I use this all the time, and I got over $80 back from them for purchases I was going to make anyway. That’s about 3 more albums I can buy!
If you’ve never used Rakuten before, you can use this link to get $10 when making a qualified purchase of $25 when using Rakuten. You will also get whatever percent cashback is being offered from the site you are purchasing from. Sephora, typically has 4% cashback, through here. Ulta typically has 3%. These are just some of the companies on the website, but there are other major retailers on there as well!
Rakuten also has a Google Chrome extension that will tell you as soon as you log onto a site that has cashback with a little pop-up in the corner so that you can ensure you are saving money!

*Note: 화해 still only exists in Korean, but some of the products can be searched for in English.
