Good Light Moon Glow Milky Toning Lotion Review

I absolutely love trying new skincare brands, especially when they are ones that are curated on Sokoglam because the owner, Charlotte Cho, is who got me really introduced into all things K-beauty. She brought me my first products. She brought me my first K-Beaty loves. She educated me on what ingredients would work for my skin and she actually helped me clear up scaring on my face. So, when I went on one day and saw that there was a brand I had never tried before, I knew that I wanted to test something out. Keep reading to find out what I think about the Good Light Moon Glow Milky Toning Lotion.

Things to know about Good Light Moon Glow Milky Toning Lotion:

Good Light is a brand developed by David Yi. He prides himself on creating a brand that is inclusive of all gender identities. They say that “the Western world has been viewed through a traditional binary lens and our mission is to take back power, create more space for those who don’t conform to societal gender roles or expressions.” All of their formulas are dermatologist test, “clean”, vegan and made to work for even the most sensitive of skin. They also do their best to only source sustainable ingredients.

This product is formulated with the following ingredients that are good for your skin:
  • Meadowfoam Seed Oil is an emoliant that seals in moisture and softens the skin. It closely imitates the sebum that is naturally found on the face and is composed primarily of antioxidents and fatty acids
  • Glycerin  is an ingredient in many skincare formulas that hydrates the skin by attracting other water particles to the deeper layers of the skin.
  • Niacinamide is also known as Vitamin B3, is an excellent ingredient for brightening the skin. This is the 4th ingredient on the list, so we know that there is quite a bit of it on the list.
  • Allantoin  is a moisturizer and exfoliant. If you are known to have dry and itchy skin, this ingredient is perfect for you. This ingredient can also help heal injured skin as it is an ingredient that is found in chamomile and beets.
  • Sodium Hyaluronate  is the salt form of hyaluronic acid, a moisturizing superstar, that holds 1000 times its weight in water. In comparison to hyaluronic acid, it is much smaller, and can penetrate into deeper layers of the skin, providing more moisture than it’s acidic counterpart
This product is formulated with the following ingredients that are “bad”* for your skin:
  • There are none that I can see in this product
Who is this product good for?
  • Those with sensitive skin
  • Those who need a lighter-weight moisturizer

K-Points: 9/10

So, for beauty reviews, unlike my album unboxings, I will be much harsher because this can directly impact your health, whereas buying K-Pop albums does not. It just impacts your wallet. As such, all of my beauty reviews will be out of 10 points. I will not be going over that number.

Overall, I really like this product. It was light, moisturizing, and it definitely seemd to work well at keeping my skin calm. Although I really liked it, I don’t think I will be purchasing it again. For my dry skin, this product wasn’t enough for me and left me wanting more. It was incredibly nice overall, but I like my SKIN1004 (more reviews incoming and Pyunkang Yul products far more.

What are the Koreans saying?

I was digging through reviews on 화해**, a Korean skincare app that lists out the ingredients of products from many brands for people to look through as well as post reviews. Unfortunately, this brand is nowhere in the app. The creator though is Korean, all of the products are made in Korea, but the owner is Korean American.

Where Can I Buy It?

Whenever I buy K-Beauty, I shop at a couple of different places. If you want to see all of the places that I shop at, you can check them all out here.  You can pick this product up at both Sokoglam and Ulta. With both, you can also use Rakuten for cash back off of your purchases on their site.

What is Rakuten?

Rakuten is a cashback site that gives you money for purchases you may have already made. They even have an extension for multiple browsers so when you go to a website that uses Rakuten, it will automatically pop up the cashback button to make sure you are saving money. I use this all the time, and I got over $80 back from them for purchases I was going to make anyway. That’s about 3 more albums I can buy!

If you’ve never used Rakuten before, you can use this link to get $10 when making a qualified purchase of $25 when using Rakuten. You will also get whatever percent cashback is being offered from the site you are purchasing from.  Sephora, typically has 4% cashback, through here. Ulta typically has 3%. These are just some of the companies on the website, but there are other major retailers on there as well!

Rakuten also has a Google Chrome extension that will tell you as soon as you log onto a site that has cashback with a little pop-up in the corner so that you can ensure you are saving money!

*I put bad in quotes here because everything is subjective. Just because an ingredient that may have some amount of research on it that it can cause issues in the skin exists in a product says nothing about how it is processed and refined when making the product. It also says nothing about where that particular ingredient came from and the quality of that ingredient. It’s just like with cooking you can have all the same ingredients to start, but depending on what you do with those ingredients, you can get two completely different end products. Liah Yoo, Youtuber and now the owner of the brand Krave Beauty, made an excellent video talking about this. You can watch that here.

**Note: 화해 still only exists in Korean, but some of the products can be searched for in English.
