Etude Soon Jung Panthensoside-5 Sleeping Pack Review

As some of you may have read in my previous posts, recently I have been dealing with some skin sensitivity caused by an allergic reaction. When that happens, I have to completely strip back most of my beauty product testing, and only use things that are perfect for the most sensitive of skin types. This is why the Etude Soon Jung Panthensoside-5 Sleeping Pack was pulled into my routine. Keep reading to find out what is in the formula, as well as my thoughts, the Koreans’ thoughts, and where you can get this product yourself.

Things to know about Etude Soon Jung Panthensoside-5 Sleeping Pack:

This product is formulated with the following ingredients that are good for your skin:
  • Panthenol also known as provitamin B5, is an excellent moisturizer that also has anti-inflammatory properties. A provitamin is the thing that comes before the vitamin, and can convert easily into the vitamin. In this scenario, that vitamin is B5, also known as pantothenic acid.
  • Squalane is a face oil that almost mimics the natural oils on the face. It calms inflammation, strengthens the skin barrier, and works well with active ingredients. It can also help soften and sooth the skin.
  • Copernicia Cerifera (Carnauba) Wax this ingredient in normal products wouldn’t be a standout ingredient, as it is just for consistency purposes, but when in a super hydrating sleeping mask like this, it is excellent. Since it is a wax, it is great for sealing the mositure into the skin. It ensure that your skin soaks in the highest amount of hydration possible.
  • Madecassic Acid is one of the main compounds in Centella Asiatica. Centella Asiatica is an ingredient that is known for it’s wound healing properties. Additionally, it has been known to help with the appearance fo scars, and (although the sample size is small) may help with wrinkles too!
This product is formulated with the following ingredients that are “bad”* for your skin:
  • There is nothing in this formula that is known to be problematic for the skin. It is fragrance and allergen- free too.
Who is this product good for?
  • Those with dry skin
  • Those with dehydrated skin
  • Those with sensitive or sensitized skin
  • Those dealing with winter skin issues

K-Points: 10/10

So, for beauty reviews, unlike my album unboxings, I will be much harsher on because this can directly impact your health, whereas buying K-Pop albums does not. It just impacts your wallet. As such, all of my beauty reviews will be out of 10 points. I will not be going over that number.

Although this product is incredibly thick, after my recent bout of contact dermatitis, once it got to a point where I could actually use products, this was one of the first ones that I pulled out to help get my skin back to normal. This product overnight made my skin look infinitely better. It helped me deal with the crippling dryness that I was experiencing and helped me get back to my normal life very quickly. Additionally, I think this will be an amazing product to pull out in the middle of winter when my skin gets chapped from the cold.

What are the Koreans saying?

I was digging through reviews on 화해 (Hwahae)**, a Korean skincare app that lists out the ingredients of products from many brands for people to look through as well as post reviews. When reading what the Koreans had to say, they talked about how this product is excellent for troubled skin. If you have wrinkles, they said this helped with plumping them. They also said this can make an excellent eye cream too!

Where Can I Buy It?

Whenever I buy K-Beauty, I do shop at a couple of different places. If you want to see all of the places that I shop at, you can check them all out here.  You can pick this up at a couple of places including the Etude website, Style Korean and Sokoglam. With Sokoglam, you can also use Rakuten for cash back off of your purchases on their site.

What is Rakuten?

Rakuten is a cashback site that gives you money for purchases you may have already made. They even have an extension for multiple browsers so when you go to a website that uses Rakuten, it will automatically pop up the cashback button to make sure you are saving money. I use this all the time, and I got over $80 back from them for purchases I was going to make anyway. That’s about 3 more albums I can buy!

If you’ve never used Rakuten before, you can use this link to get $10 when making a qualified purchase of $25 when using Rakuten. You will also get whatever percent cashback is being offered from the site you are purchasing from.  Sephora, typically has 4% cashback, through here. Ulta typically has 3%. These are just some of the companies on the website, but there are other major retailers on there as well!

Rakuten also has a Google Chrome extension that will tell you as soon as you log onto a site that has cashback with a little pop-up in the corner so that you can ensure you are saving money!

*I put bad in quotes here because everything is subjective. Just because an ingredient that may have some amount of research on it that it can cause issues in the skin exists in a product says nothing about how it is processed and refined when making the product. It also says nothing about where that particular ingredient came from and the quality of that ingredient. It’s just like with cooking you can have all the same ingredients to start, but depending on what you do with those ingredients, you can get two completely different end products. Liah Yoo, Youtuber and now the owner of the brand Krave Beauty, made an excellent video talking about this. You can watch that here.

**Note: 화해 still only exists in Korean, but some of the products can be searched for in English.
