As many of you know, I am always looking to try new products, especially new brands. So, when I see new, high-rated products that I have yet to try, I feel like they are destined to make it into my shopping cart, into my life, and then onto my face. When I heard that the AHCYout Lasting Real Eye Cream For Face was a best seller, I needed to try it. Keep reading to find out what’s in the formula, the Koreans’ and my thoughts, as well as where you can find this product for yourself.

Things to know about AHC Youth Lasting Real Eye Cream For Face:

AHC is a brand that was started in South Korea in 1999. Catering to aesthetic spas and dermatologists, they focus on advanced skincare science, thoughtful formulations, as well as optimizing the application. Their aim is to bring high-quality, spa-level skincare at affordable prices.

This product is formulated with the following ingredients that are good for your skin:
  • Shea Butter  is an ingredient that excels at moisturizing, fighting inflammation, and is full of antioxidants. Plus, it’s high in Vitamin E, D, and A. This allows it to be great at helping fade acne scars and hyperpigmentation, as well as soothe irritation.
  • Hyaluronic Acid is a moisturizing superstar, that holds 1000 times its weight in water. In comparison to hyaluronic acid, it is much smaller, and can penetrate into deeper layers of the skin, providing more moisture than it’s acidic counterpart.
  • Camellia Sineasis (Green Tea) Leaf Extract is rich in antioxidants that will help repair and rejuvenate collagen. Additionally, it is incredibly moisturizing and research shows that it has anti-bacterial properties.
  • Retinal, a form of vitamin A, helps to speed up cell turnover, improve fine lines and wrinkles, and boost collagen production. For reference, Retinol is also Vitamin A, but in order for retinol to be used by the skin, it has to undergo 2 chemical reactions, one to retinal and one to retinoic acid. For this reason, retinal is 11 times more effective than retinol since it requires less energy and time for it to be used by the skin.
  • Panthenol also known as provitamin B5, is an excellent moisturizer that also has anti-inflammatory properties. A provitamin is the thing that comes before the vitamin, and can convert easily into the vitamin. In this scenario, that vitamin is B5, also known as pantothenic acid.
  • And More…
This product is formulated with the following ingredients that are “bad”* for your skin:

K-Points: 6/10

So, for beauty reviews, unlike my album unboxings, I will be much harsher because this can directly impact your health, whereas buying K-Pop albums does not. It just impacts your wallet. As such, all of my beauty reviews will be out of 10 points. I will not be going over that number.

So, I will say that this review is very heavily tainted by the fact that my skin reacted terribly to this eye cream. I immediately started developing dry patches around my eyes. Within 48 hours, my eyes started becoming red and swollen and it was harder to breathe. Obviously, this was an allergic reaction, but as to what it was, I have no idea. There is fragrance in this formula, and it could have something to do with that, but it could also be that the retinal percentage is too high for that area with my sensitive skin.

After not using it for about a month to allow my skin to recover, I tried this product again. Because of the retinol, I am only using it twice a week and using a different eye cream the rest of the time, and am noticing better results. Before I noticed that retinal was in the cream, as the ingredient list is incredibly long, I was trying to figure out what in the cream caused the problem, but retinal and retinol are known to cause dryness and irritation if used on the skin too frequently.

What are the Koreans saying?

I was digging through reviews on 화해**, a Korean skincare app that lists out the ingredients of products from many brands for people to look through as well as post reviews. Out of 209 reviews, this product received 4.14.out of 5 stars. Although rating this high, the Koreans did note that you have to be careful with this product. My guess is that it is for the same reason that I needed to be careful: retinal, although no one is directly disclosing it in their reviews. Some of the others also noted that you should put this product on your neck as well to keep you looking young.

Where Can I Buy It?

Whenever I buy K-Beauty, I do shop at a couple of different places. If you want to see all of the places that I shop at, you can check them all out here.  I believe I picked this up at Olive Young, but you may be able to find it at other places. With some other makeup places, you can also use Rakuten for cash back off of your purchases on their site.

What is Rakuten?

Rakuten is a cashback site that gives you money for purchases you may have already made. They even have an extension for multiple browsers so when you go to a website that uses Rakuten, it will automatically pop up the cashback button to make sure you are saving money. I use this all the time, and I got over $80 back from them for purchases I was going to make anyway. That’s about 3 more albums I can buy!

If you’ve never used Rakuten before, you can use this link to get $10 when making a qualified purchase of $25 when using Rakuten. You will also get whatever percent cashback is being offered from the site you are purchasing from.  Sephora, typically has 4% cashback, through here. Ulta typically has 3%. These are just some of the companies on the website, but there are other major retailers on there as well!

Rakuten also has a Google Chrome extension that will tell you as soon as you log onto a site that has cashback with a little pop-up in the corner so that you can ensure you are saving money!

*I put bad in quotes here because everything is subjective. Just because an ingredient that may have some amount of research on it that it can cause issues in the skin exists in a product says nothing about how it is processed and refined when making the product. It also says nothing about where that particular ingredient came from and the quality of that ingredient. It’s just like with cooking you can have all the same ingredients to start, but depending on what you do with those ingredients, you can get two completely different end products. Liah Yoo, a YouTuber and now the owner of the brand Krave Beauty, made an excellent video talking about this.

**Note: 화해 still only exists in Korean, but some of the products can be searched for in English.
