Abib Heartleaf Spot Pad Review

Abib Heatleaf Spot Pad

Abib is a K-Beauty brand that I have been hearing a lot about in recent months. Naturally, curiosity killed the cat, and I had to buy a few products. Today, our focus is the Abib Heartleaf Spot Pad. Keep reading to find out more about the product, what my thoughts are, and where you can get this product yourself.

Things to know about Abib Heartleaf Spot Pad:

According to the brand’s website, Abib stands for “first month” and the brand’s goal is make the purest and most perfect cosmetics. They aim to slow the aging process, to help the skin regenerate naturally, and help remove dead skin cells. They like the principles of minimalism, and want their products to reflect simple, perfect, pure formulas.

This product is formulated with the following ingredients that are good for your skin:
  • Hottuynua Cordata Extratct (Heartleaf Extract) is the star ingredient of this formula, and it is the 3rd ingredient on the list, with only water, and glycerin in front of it. It has high levels of flavanoids in it which help with irritation and inflammation. It is also full of antioxidants that will help you skin fight damage.
  • Althaea Rosea Flower Extract (Hollyhock Extract) is an ingredient with anti-inflammatory and anti-microbial properties. It can help with those that need help with acne, as it is an excellent calming ingredient.
  • Sodium Hyaluronate is a type of hyaluronic acid that can help add hydration into the deeper levels of your skin and prevent dehydration.
  • Allantoin is an ingredient that soothes and heals injured skin. This ingredient is excellent for those with dry or itchy skin.
  • Vitamin E is an ingredient that seals in moisture and has antioxidant properties.
  • Caffeine can help reduce wrinkles, brighten skin, and help reduce inflammation
This product is formulated with the following ingredients that are “bad”* for your skin:
  • There are no “bad” or potentially problematic ingredients in this formula, unless you have a known allergy to something in the formula. From what I can see, there are no common allergens.
Who is this product good for?
  • Those with dry skin
  • Those with irritated skin
  • Those with acne-prone skin
  • Those with sensitive skin

K-Points: 9/10

So, for beauty reviews, unlike my album unboxings, I will be much harsher on because this can directly impact your health, where buying K-Pop albums does not. It just impacts your wallet. As such, all of my beauty reviews will be out of 10 points. I will not be going over that number.

As someone with dry irritated skin that is prone to hormonal acne, this product is excellent. It really helps calm my skin, and prevent irritation. I’m in the middle of a severe period of dryness at the moment, and I cannot imagine how much worse it would be without this product. With my dry skin, I also have a bit of irritation, and these pads helped with those as well. The only reason I am docking points from this products is because although pads are convenient, I do find them to be wasteful. It looks ike they may have a toner version of this product that may be worth trying.

What are the Koreans saying?

I was digging through reviews on 화해 (Hwahae)**, a Korean skincare app that lists out the ingredients of products from many brands for people to look through as well as post reviews. On Hwahae, there are over 400 reviews of this product, overwhelmingly positive. They all talked about how these pads really help eliminate their redness and acne. The one thing they did complain about with this product is that the lid didn’t stay down, and the tweezers provided don’t actually stay in the lid. This is something I noticed as well, but it will not prevent me from buying the product.

Where Can I Buy It?

Whenever I buy K-Beauty, I do shop at a couple of different places. If you want to see all of the places that I shop at, you can check them all out here.  This particular product, I picked up from Olive Young, but K-Beauty is quickly becoming more and more available on other sites. With many of those sites, you can also use Rakuten for cash back off of your purchases on their site.

What is Rakuten?

Rakuten is a cashback site that gives you money for purchases you may have already made. They even have an extension for multiple browsers so when you go to a website that uses Rakuten, it will automatically pop up the cashback button to make sure you are saving money. I use this all the time, and I got over $80 back from them for purchases I was going to make anyway. That’s about 3 more albums I can buy!

If you’ve never used Rakuten before, you can use this link to get $10 when making a qualified purchase of $25 when using Rakuten. You will also get whatever percent cashback is being offered from the site you are purchasing from.  Sephora, typically has 4% cashback, through here. Ulta typically has 3%. These are just some of the companies on the website, but there are other major retailers on there as well!

Rakuten also has a Google Chrome extension that will tell you as soon as you log onto a site that has cashback with a little pop-up in the corner so that you can ensure you are saving money!

*I put bad in quotes here because everything is subjective. Just because an ingredient that may have some amount of research on it that it can cause issues in the skin exists in a product says nothing about how it is processed and refined when making the product. It also says nothing about where that particular ingredient came from and the quality of that ingredient. It’s just like with cooking you can have all the same ingredients to start, but depending on what you do with those ingredients, you can get two completely different end products. Liah Yoo, Youtuber and now the owner of the brand Krave Beauty, made an excellent video talking about this. You can watch that here.

**Note: 화해 still only exists in Korean, but some of the products can be searched for in English.
