K-Goods: BlackPink Lightstick Unboxing

blackpink lightstick

As I am not a die hard BlackPink fan, I was not going to initially buy the BlackPink lightstick. Then, they released the images of it, and I found out that it was a squeaky hammer. My childish nature took over, and I had to add it to my collection. It squeaks. I can hit people with it. On top of that, I can see in the dark with it. I call that a trifecta of childish perfection.

Per usual, I picked up my lightstick on Choice Music for $32.99 plus shipping. You can pick it up on Amazon for $49.99 here. If you are an Amazon Prime member, this includes free shipping .

If you don’t have Amazon Prime, you can get a 30 day free trial using this link here. I will not lie, the free 2 day shipping, plus all of the free music and videos are totally worth it. I also now use it for books for my Kindle paper white too, and it is honestly a life saver. They have a program called Kindle Unlimited where you can check out 10 books at a time, read them, and put them back in the kindle library. The program cost $7.99 a month, and you get the first 30 days for free with this link.

Things to know about the BlackPink Lightstick:

  • Things that come with the lightstick:
    • Lightstick
    • As well as a strap to carry it with (that is impossible to put on)
  • Although the main colors of the lightstick are black and pink, there is a rose gold accent on the handle.
  • On top of that, there is a switch on the top (slightly challenging to turn) that turns the squeaking on and off
  • So it doesn’t hurt when you hit people, the lightstick is made of silicon. Please do not full on Babe Ruth swing this hammer at someone. They will be hit by the plastic part, and that will hurt.
  • The strap has their logo on it.
  • Also, the hammer heads say BlackPink on them.
  • The lightstick has 3 light settings:
    • On
    • Slow Blink
    • Epilepsy blink
  • Additionally, the packaging is lightweight plastic and cardboard

K-Points: 296/5

Out of all of the lightsticks I own, this is the one that feels the cheapest. Unlike my Super Junior, GOT7, Wanna One, or NCT lightsticks, the BlackPink lightstick feels cheap. It is made of cheap plastic, cheap silicon, and the strap is also cheap. On top of that, the box it came in is honestly not very pretty, and the plastic inside is similar to that which you would get with a knock-off barbie doll. The rest of my lightsticks are made of good, high quality materials. Not this one. I was slightly disappointed. I would rater pay a few more dollars for quality, as this could break at a concert.

Despite that, I do still like the concept. I find it charming, adorable, and slightly agressive. The execution could have been better though. This lightstick doesn’t feel like the keepsake that the rest of mine are. This feels 100% like a toy… although that is what I will most likely use it for.

Should you purchase it? If you are a BlackPink fan, or like squeaky hammers, yes. The lightstick is cute! If you expect quality from things that you purchase, you may be slightly disappointed in the quality of this. You may want to spend your money on a lightstick for another group you love, even if it will be a few bucks more expensive instead.
