The ladies of Twice have quickly flipped around another set of new music in 2018! This time they have returned with Twice Year of ‘Yes’. Although this album is not a full repackage of Yes or Yes, they did add 2 new tracks as a Christmas gift for their fans.
I ordered a copy of the album from an eBay seller in Korea. This is a link to the exact one I’ve ordered. I got this copy for $25.39 plus free shipping. 올해 제일 잘한 일 (The Best Thing I Ever Did)
I will have a reaction to the new video being posted later today. I’m currently at the office, so I’m not going to film here. I’ll wait until I get home tonight. Once that is up, you will see it below this paragraph.
It sounds like TWICE is bringing us another Christmas single! I love the bells in the background. They definitely add that magical Christmas time feel to the track. I also really like the sweet, simple staccato chords in the background with the matching baseline.
As for the vocals, they are very light, airy and have an innocent feel to them. They aren’t applying a lot of power to their vocals. What that means is that this is not going to be a Mariah Carey Christmas Spectacular. They have some basic harmonies going on as well. Overall, the song isn’t incredibly complex, and not very vocally provoking. This being said, TWICE is not known for being complex or vocally provoking. They are known for being cute, sweet and innocent. Since that is what they are going for, they accomplished that.
Be as ONE (Korean Ver.)
This track had me thrown for a little bit of a loop! It’s very simple, and straightforward when it comes to instrumentation. When it comes to the vocals, I was actually pretty impressed with the harmonies! They were light and airy, but they were tight. Getting chords like that on point, and have the middle note pop out is really challenging. On top of that, they are doing those tight harmonies for most of the track!
I’m actually pretty impressed with this track. I think it is a good example of what TWICE is capable of if you give them a more challenging track. They have some power vocalists in there, and clearly, they are capable of holding tight harmonies well with practice. I would love to see JYP give them more songs like this vocally. It really allows the girls to shine in a way that we normally don’t get to see much of.

Although I wasn’t thoroughly impressed with the one track, Be as ONE definitely got me good with their amazing harmonies. Honestly, that song I think would have been a better single than the other one as it has more going on and isn’t just resting on “cute”.
So should you get yourself a copy of this album? This album is not considered a full repackage of Yes or Yes. It’s considered to be a Christmas Present for ONCEs. As such, I really don’t think you need to add this to your collection, and can hold off. There are only 2 new tracks. Should you stream it? I definitely think that you should listen to it, especially “Be as ONE”. I think that is some of the best vocals that I have heard from TWICE to date, and I was quite impressed?
