NEOGEN Green Tea Foam Cleanser Review

neogen green tea foam cleanser

Recently, I have really been looking for a new cleanser. I feel like the one that I was using previously in my 10 step skincare routine wasn’t cutting it anymore, as my skin wasn’t getting any better. Naturally, I pop onto the Sokoglam blog, also known as the Klog, and just start reading. Insert the NEOGEN Green Tea Foam Cleanser.

I picked up this cleanser on Sokoglam, my favorite site for K-Beauty for $19.00 here. If you have never purchased off of Sokoglam before, you can use this link to get 20% off of your first purchase. That will take the cost down to $17.20.  I was going to give you an Amazon link, but the price is way more expensive there. Stick with Sokoglam.

Things to know about the NEOGEN Green Tea Foam Cleanser:

  • This cleanser has a pH of 7, which is the pH of water. If you are going from a higher pH cleanser, like I was, for the first few days, your skin may feel slightly irritated. Your skin sits at a pH 5.5, so this is a bit lower, but it is also the pH of distilled water.
  • The star ingredient in this cleanser is fermented green tea extract. What green tea extract is good for:
    • Anti-inflammatory and anti-bacterial properties, which is perfect for acne prone skin
    • catechins in it promote anti-aging (you should always start early!)
    • Reduces production of excess sebum (another thing that is perfect for my oily skin girls)
    • Known acne fighter
    • Very gentle exfoliator
  • You know this product actually has the green tea in it, because you can see the leaves in the bottom
  • The pump produces a very healthy amount of foam, in the photo above, that was 1 pump. It was enough to cover my whole face
  • The is a very mild fragrance to this foam, but it isn’t bad. It just smells fresh.

K-Points: 511/5

I have only been using this cleanser for about 2-3 weeks at this point, but it has already made dramatic improvements in my acne prone skin. Usually, my entire chin is bright red and it is impossible to cover with makeup, because my skin is so fair. This, plus the adjustment to my acne medication, has calmed down all of my inflammation and redness down to a very bearable level in just two weeks. I can now easily cover it with makeup, and I imagine that that will just keep getting better in the weeks to come.

Who should use this product?
  • Those with acne prone skin
  • Those with oily skin
  • Those that have redness on their skin
Who shouldn’t use this product:
  • Those with dry skin
  • Those who have sensitive skin should also be careful, and ease their skin into using this product

I highly recommend this product to any of the groups listed above. The cleanser is incredibly gentle, although you may need an adjustment period for it because it is a lower pH cleanser. If you have sensitive or dry skin, there are other products out there that have the same star ingredient, but aren’t cleansers. For example, the Tony Moly Chok Chok Green Tea Watery Cream, which I also love (there will be a review coming on that.
