My copy of Lee Min Hyuk HUTAZONE has finally arrived! I’m so excited! I always love it when individual members of a group go off and do solo work because it really allows you to see that person. After how great that album was (read my thought here), I hope that people are calling him “Lee Min Hyuk of BTOB” instead of BTOB’s Lee Min Hyuk.
Things to know about the Lee Min Hyuk HUTAZONE Album:
Released on January 15th, 2019 right before Minhyuk left for his mandatory military service requirement. HUTAZONE sold almost 38,000 copies. The album featured 2 title tracks: “Ya” and Tonight (With Melody)” (오늘 밤에 (With Melody)). “Ya” boasts 2.3 million views on Youtube, and “Tonight (With Melody)” (오늘 밤에 (With Melody))” has 2.2 million views. On top of that, Minhyuk has writing credits on every track on this album as well as composition credits on almost every single track on this album.

I must say, this is one of the coolest albums that I have purchased to date! It’s 2 photobooks in one! They both open from opposite sides, and the CD is secured in the center of the two on thick cardboard with one of those foam rings. Additionally, I love the duality of this album. You’ve got this dark, sexy side, but also this incredibly cute side. It’s just like Minhyuk. If you want to watch that duality, go watch Jang Geum, Oh My Grandma (대장금이 보고 있다).
Just like I was seriously impressed with the album, I am seriously impressed with the photo book. It’s sexy and cute at the same time. Honestly, I feel like that is a combination that we don’t typically get in 1 album. It’s usually one or the other, never both! On top of that, it perfectly matches the album, and even reinforces that the shift in musical styles was purposefully between the first and second half of the album.
So should you get yourself a copy of this album? Honestly, it is totally worth it, just for the eye candy alone. On top of that, I feel like the physical album in this situation adds more purpose to what Min Hyuk was doing here. Should you stream it? I 100% think you need to. Minhyuk did a very solid job on his first album. It’s clean. It’s innovative, and you can tell he poured his soul into it. He crossed genres and blended them all together in a very unique way!
