Anyone who has been reading this blog for any amount of time would know that Pyunkang Yul is by far one of my favorite K-Beauty brands. The products are simple, formulated well, effective, and don’t cause any sensitivities. In probably the past year or two, they have been expanding their product range into a calming line, which I have slowly been trying all of the products. Today, we are going to talk about the Pyunkang Yul Calming Low pH Foaming Cleanser. Keep reading to find out what the product is formulated with, my thoughts, as well as the Koreans, and where you can find this yourself!
Things to know about Pyunkang Yul Calming Low pH Foaming Cleanser:
This product is formulated with the following ingredients that are good for your skin:
- Camellia Japonica Flower Extract comes from a flower native to Korea, China and Japan. It is an anti-aging ingredient that can protect collagen in the skin. It can also intercept collagen-degrading enzymes before it can cause any damage or wrinkles.
- Centella Asiatica Extract is an incredibly well-known ingredient in K-Beauty for its hydrating and anti-inflammatory properties. It’s an ingredient that is excellent for acne-prone and damaged skin. Plus, since it is combined with hyaluronic acid in this formula, it boosts its hydrating properties.
- Sodium Hyaluronate is the salt form of hyaluronic acid, a moisturizing superstar, that holds 1000 times its weight in water. In comparison to hyaluronic acid, it is much smaller, and can penetrate into deeper layers of the skin, providing more moisture than it’s acidic counterpart
- Honeysuckle Flower Extract has anti-inflammatory properties. It is used to help treat things such as eczema and rosacea. Additionally it is also rich in flavonoids which protect the skin against free radicals which can damage the skin, causing an uneven and dull skintone.
- Tea Tree Leaf Extract is an ingredient that can kill bacteria and fungus. Additionally it can ease inflammation. It is an excellent ingredient for those with acne prone skin. On top of that, it can help heal minor cuts and scrapes.
This product is formulated with the following ingredients that are “bad”* for your skin:
- There are no ingredients that could cause potential issues or irritation, unless you have a known irritation to one of the ingredients.
Who is this product good for?
- All skin types
- Except those who are aggressively oily. If then this would be more suitable for them only in winter
K-Points: 10/10
So, for beauty reviews, unlike my album unboxings, I will be much harsher on because this can directly impact your health, whereas buying K-Pop albums does not. It just impacts your wallet. As such, all of my beauty reviews will be out of 10 points. I will not be going over that number.
I honestly am in love with this cleanser. It foams up incredibly well, and I had a bout of skin sensitivity recently. This product is one I was still able to use regardless of the bright red splotches on my face. It didn’t add any extra irritation, and my skin didn’t feel stripped after using it. Plus, when removing makeup, this product also does an excellent job of not making your skin feel stripped of all moisture. It really is an incredibly well formulated cleanser.
What are the Koreans saying?
I was digging through reviews on 화해**, a Korean skincare app that lists out the ingredients of products from many brands for people to look through as well as post reviews. Out of 44 reviews, this product has 4.41 out of 5 stars. They really like the amount of bubbles it created. The bubbles aren’t too big or too small. They said that the cleanser had an incredibly soft feeling on the skin as well. On top of that, they loved how it was hypoallergenic.
Where Can I Buy It?
Whenever I buy K-Beauty, I do shop at a couple of different places. If you want to see all of the places that I shop at, you can check them all out here. I don’t remember where I picked this up at, as I get Pyunkang Yul from various locations. That being said, I do get a lot of my K-Beauty from Ulta. With Ulta, you can also use Rakuten for cash back off of your purchases on their site.
What is Rakuten?
Rakuten is a cashback site that gives you money for purchases you may have already made. They even have an extension for multiple browsers so when you go to a website that uses Rakuten, it will automatically pop up the cashback button to make sure you are saving money. I use this all the time, and I got over $80 back from them for purchases I was going to make anyway. That’s about 3 more albums I can buy!
If you’ve never used Rakuten before, you can use this link to get $10 when making a qualified purchase of $25 when using Rakuten. You will also get whatever percent cashback is being offered from the site you are purchasing from. Sephora, typically has 4% cashback, through here. Ulta typically has 3%. These are just some of the companies on the website, but there are other major retailers on there as well!
Rakuten also has a Google Chrome extension that will tell you as soon as you log onto a site that has cashback with a little pop-up in the corner so that you can ensure you are saving money!

*I put bad in quotes here because everything is subjective. Just because an ingredient that may have some amount of research on it that it can cause issues in the skin exists in a product says nothing about how it is processed and refined when making the product. It also says nothing about where that particular ingredient came from and the quality of that ingredient. It’s just like cooking you can have all the same ingredients to start, but depending on what you do with those ingredients, you can get two completely different end products. Liah Yoo, Youtuber and now the owner of the brand Krave Beauty, made an excellent video talking about this. You can watch that here.
**Note: 화해 still only exists in Korean, but some of the products can be searched for in English.
