Pyunkang Yul Oil Product Review

Pyunkangyul Oil scaled

I wasn’t originally planning on doing another Pyunkang Yul post today, but as I’m writing this post, I’m dealing with a lovely bout of contact dermatitis with an extra dose of sarcasm. This is the worst condition my skin has ever been in, and the Pyunkang Yul Oil saved my skin. Keep reading to find out what is in the formula, the Koreans’ and my thoughts, and where you can get this oil yourself.

Things to know about the Pyunkang Yul Oil:

This product is formulated with the following ingredients that are good for your skin:
  • Jojoba Seed Oil is incredibly moisturizing and can help seal your skin with a protective layer. It also has anti-fungal and anti-microbal properties. Additionally, jojoba oil anturally contains vitamin E and it’s chemical makeup is so similar to the oils naturally on your skin that it won’t clog pores. Finally, it has natural antioxidant properties which can help it with collagen production and speed up wound healing.
  • Sunflower Seed Oil is an oil that is rich in Vitamin E. This oil can also aid the skin in wound healing, and providing a protective barrier for the skin. Note: if you have a seed or nut allergy, you may want to avoid this.
  • Shea Butter is an excellent moisturizing ingredient that great for those with dry skin. It is also full of antioxidants that can help reduce fine lines and wrinkles.
  • Rosemary Leaf Oil is a strong antioxidant that can provide antiaging benefits. It also has a chemical compound in it that is excellent for calming skin conditions, such as eczema.
This product is formulated with the following ingredients that are “bad”* for your skin:
  • Citrus Limon (Lemon) Fruit Oil is actually quite good for your skin, but the reason that I am including this product here is because it could be a known allergen for some. If you are very sesitive to citrus, I would be careful with this product. Although this ingredient is low on the list, it is still something to watch out for.
Who is this product good for?
  • Those with dry skin
  • Those with irritated skin

K-Points: 10/10

So, for beauty reviews, unlike my album unboxings, I will be much harsher on because this can directly impact your health, where buying K-Pop albums does not. It just impacts your wallet. As such, all of my beauty reviews will be out of 10 points. I will not be going over that number.

Honestly, this product saved my skin. It was the only thing that my skin would allow on it. It has so few ingredients that I’m not shocked that it was the only thing my skin liked. It was so irritated and dry, and I had to apply this product multiple times a day, but it really helped remove some of the irritation. It also helped limit a lot of that overly dry feeling when it started getting better. I used so much of this product in the past few days that there is only half left, and I immediately ordered a new one.

What are the Koreans saying?

I was digging through reviews on 화해** (pronounced Hwahae), a Korean skincare app that lists out the ingredients of products from many brands for people to look through as well as post reviews. Reading through the reviews, many Koreans couldn’t find a downside to this product, which isn’t shocking, based on the short, simple ingredient list. They also really enjoyed the texture of the product.

Where Can I Buy It?

Whenever I buy K-Beauty, I do shop at a couple of different places. If you want to see all of the places that I shop at, you can check them all out here.  I usually pick this product up on Style Korean when I buy my Korean almonds. With Ulta, you can also use Rakuten for cash back off of your purchases on their site.

What is Rakuten?

Rakuten is a cashback site that gives you money for purchases you may have already made. They even have an extension for multiple browsers so when you go to a website that uses Rakuten, it will automatically pop up the cashback button to make sure you are saving money. I use this all the time, and I got over $80 back from them for purchases I was going to make anyway. That’s about 3 more albums I can buy!

If you’ve never used Rakuten before, you can use this link to get $10 when making a qualified purchase of $25 when using Rakuten. You will also get whatever percent cashback is being offered from the site you are purchasing from.  Sephora, typically has 4% cashback, through here. Ulta typically has 3%. These are just some of the companies on the website, but there are other major retailers on there as well!

Rakuten also has a Google Chrome extension that will tell you as soon as you log onto a site that has cashback with a little pop-up in the corner so that you can ensure you are saving money!

*I put bad in quotes here because everything is subjective. Just because an ingredient that may have some amount of research on it that it can cause issues in the skin exists in a product says nothing about how it is processed and refined when making the product. It also says nothing about where that particular ingredient came from and the quality of that ingredient. It’s just like with cooking you can have all the same ingredients to start, but depending on what you do with those ingredients, you can get two completely different end products. Liah Yoo, Youtuber and now the owner of the brand Krave Beauty, made an excellent video talking about this. You can watch that here.

**Note: 화해 still only exists in Korean, but some of the products can be searched for in English.
