LANEIGE Eye Sleeping Mask Review

LANEIGE Eye Sleeping Mask scaled

Today, we are going to be talking about one of the biggest brands in Korea that also managed to be one of the first brands to full break into the US Market, LANEIGE. I remember when I first started seeing K-Beauty brands in US stores, I was so excited, and LANEIGE was one of the very first. Today, we are talking about a Sephora Exclusive product, the LANEIGE Eye Sleeping Mask.

Whenever I buy K-Beauty, I do shop at a couple of different places. If you want to see all of the places that I shop at, you can check them all out here. This product is actually a Sephora exclusive, so if you want to try it, you are going to have to pick it up there. Plus, with Sephora, you can also use Rakuten for cash back off of your purchases on their site.

What is Rakuten?

Rakuten is a cashback site that gives you money for purchases you may have already made. They even have an extension for multiple browsers so when you go to a website that uses Rakuten, it will automatically pop up the cashback button to make sure you are saving money. I use this all the time, and I got over 80$ back from them for purchases I was going to make anyway. That’s about 3 more albums I can buy!

If you’ve never used Rakuten before, you can use this link to get $10 when making a qualified purchase of $25 when using Rakuten. You will also get whatever percent cashback is being offered from the site you are purchasing from.  Sephora, typically has 4% cashback, through here. Ulta typically has 3%. These are just some of the companies on the website, but there are other major retailers are on there as well!

Rakuten also has a Google Chrome extension that will tell you as soon as you log onto a site that has cashback with a little pop-up in the corner, so that you can ensure you are saving money!

Things to know about LANEIGE Eye Sleeping Mask:

This product is formulated with the following ingredients that are good for your skin:
  • Caffeine (10th ingredient down) restricts blood cells and reduces puffiness around the eyes. It also tightens and brightens the skin.
  • Quinoa Seed Extract (22nd ingredient down) is a hydrating ingredient that has antioxident properties
  • Vitamin E (one of the lowest ingredients on the list) is an ingredient that is known for it’s nourishing and anti-oxidant properties
This product is formulated with the following ingredients that are “bad” for your skin:
  • Linolene & Linolool are fragrant components that can cause skin irritation and redness if you have sensitive skin.
  • Fragrance is something in ingredient decks that I always try to look out for because it can be irritating to the skin
  • There are not many hydrating compounds in this formulation besides water. So, for dry skin, like mine, this is probably not a good product.

K-Points: 5/10

So, for beauty reviews, unlike my album unboxings, I will be much harsher on because this can directly impact your health, where buying K-Pop albums does not. It just impacts your wallet. As such, all of my beauty reviews will be out of 10 points. I will not be going over that number.

Quite frankly, I wasn’t that big of a fan of this product. Although I love the applicator on it (which I do not have a picture of because I threw the product out), I don’t find this eye cream to be incredibly hydrating. Additionally, because of the texture and consistency, after applying it, it has a habit of getting in my eyes if you over apply by even a little bit. When it does get in the eyes, it burns a bit too. On top of all of that, the ingredients that should be star ingredients in the formula are all quite low in the ingredient list, and “filler ingredients”, such as preservatives and formula stabilizers, are all far higher in the formula. For all of these reasons, this is a product that I will not purchase again.

What are the Koreans saying?

I was digging through reviews on 화해**, a Korean skincare app that lists out the ingredients of products from many brands for people to look through as well as post reviews. From what I can see here, there have been mixed reviews from the Koreans. Some really love it, and some really hate it. They talked about how it really helped with their dark eye circles and brightened around the eyes. There are also those with similar complaints as me. Not everyone’s skin is identical though. I may really dislike it, and your skin may really love it. My skin is incredibly dry, so if you have more oily skin, you may enjoy it more.
