Just like I am a huge fan of K-Pop as a whole, I am also a huge fan of K-Dramas. I love all of the compelling stories and quirky characters that they come up with. A Korean Odyssey (화유기) is one of my absolute favorites. I have watched it at least 3-4 times, and I even have my own little Son Oh Gong (손오공), which you may be able to see in the background of some of my Youtube videos. Because of this love, picking up a copy of A Korean Odyssey OST was a no-brainer.
I picked up my copy of this album Music Plaza LA. You can get a copy here for $20.99, plus shipping. Additionally, if you have never used Music Plaza before, this link will get you an extra 5% off of your first purchase!
I could not find a copy of the OST on eBay, as it looks like it was a limited run, but I did find a copy of the DVD! You can get that here for about 33$. Plus, with eBay, you can save a little bit of money by using the E-Bates extension on your browser, as it will save you 2% on all album purchases, which definitely adds up.
What is E-Bates?
E-Bates is a cashback site that gives you money for purchases you may have already made. They even have an extension for multiple browsers so when you go to a website that uses Ebates, it will automatically pop up the cashback button to make sure you are saving money. I use this all the time, and I got over 80$ back from them for purchases I was going to make anyway. That’s about 3 more albums I can buy!
If you’ve never used EBates before, you can use this link to get $10 when making a qualified purchase of $25 when using EBates. You will also get whatever percent cashback is being offered from the site you are purchasing from. Sephora, typically has 4% cashback, through here. Sokoglam typically has 3%. These percentages Many other major retailers are on there as well.
Can I get it on Amazon?
At this moment in time, this album is not available on Amazon. But, you can pick up a copy of the DVD using this link for 46 dollars (not as good of a deal), with free shipping if you have Amazon Prime.
If you don’t have Amazon Prime, you can get a 30-day free trial using this link here. I will not lie, the free 2-day shipping, plus all of the free music and videos are totally worth it. I also now use it for books for my Kindle Paper White too, and it is honestly a life saver. They have a program called Kindle Unlimited where you can check out 10 books at a time, read them, and put them back in the Kindle library. The program cost $7.99 a month, and you get the first 30 days for free with this link.
Things to know about the Korean Odyssey OST Album:
- There is only 1 version of this album, as is the case with most Soundtracks you will buy from Korea.
- Things that come with the album:
- CD
- Mini Photobook
- Special digipack, with pictures of the 3 main characters on it
- Photo cards of all of the artists who sang songs for the album
- If you open the album backwards (opposite direction of the CD), you see a big picture of Oh Gong (오공) and Mawang (마왕)
- The album feature songs from artists like N.Flying, Bumki, Ben, Mellomance, and Nu’est W (The drama came out while Wanna One was still active, hence why it has Nu’est W).
K-Points: 42/5
Most of the time OSTs don’t have as extravagant packaging as your every day K-Pop album. They are a bit more simple, but the best part of them is always the music itself. The songs from K-Dramas have a habit of being incredibly moving and wonderful, and for that reason alone, I am going to give this album 42 out of 5 K-Points.
So should you get yourself a copy of this album? For me, even though this album gets such a high score, it was farther down on my list of albums to add into my collection. That being said, you if are a big K-Drama fan, I definitely think that it is worth getting. If there are other things higher on your list to buy though, You definitely should stream this album.
