TWICE Summer Nights Album Review

twice summer nights

The adorable girls of Twice are back again to grace us with TWICE Summer Nights, their summer release. I don’t know what it is about those girls that I like so much, but they are really quite cute, and all of their music gets stuck in my head. They are living, breathing ear worms.

I picked up a copy of this album on Choice Music, per usual for $18.99 plus shipping. You can also pick up a copy on Amazon for $24.98 plus free shipping if you have Amazon Prime.

If you don’t have Amazon Prime, you can get a 30 day free trial using this link here. I will not lie, the free 2 day shipping, plus all of the free music and videos are totally worth it. I also now use it for books for my Kindle paper white too, and it is honestly a life saver. They have a program called Kindle Unlimited where you can check out 10 books at a time, read them, and put them back in the kindle library. The program cost $7.99 a month, and you get the first 30 days for free with this link.

This is a repackage of What is Love? So I will only be discussing the 3 new tracks on the album. If you want to hear my thoughts on the other tracks, you can read my review here and my unboxing here.

Twice Summer Nights Track by Track:

Dance the Night Away

This is the single off the album, and per usual, it is absolutely adorable. I really like the dance track vibe, and the cute little dance breaks that they have. I also really enjoy the horns that they added to the track. Their voices also sound stronger on this track than I have ever heard. Despite that, I don’t feel like this track is very different from anything else that I have seen the girls do. I understand that their concept is supposed to be cute and fun, but they can always mix it up a little bit. Either way, this song was immediately stuck in my head, and made it into my playlist.

CHILLAX

I like how they brought in a bit of an island vibe to this track. I actually really enjoy this track. It’s very teeny-bopper, but I can see it getting stuck in my head. On top of that, their harmonies are pretty good on this track! I actually think they are better on this one than they are on the title track for the comeback. Does this track stand out to me as something that I would consistently listen to though? Probably not, mainly because it isn’t my style. Either way, it is cute.

Shot thru the Heart

Although all of Twice’s music sounds the same since it all has that happy, cute feel to it, I like how this song has a little bit of a swing feel to it. Despite that, this isn’t a song that I would consistently listen to. I don’t think their vocals are particularly strong through this track, except for Ji Hyo. That girl has power in her voice. Is this song making it into my playlist? No. I wouldn’t want to listen to this song when driving or running. I don’t think that it suits wither of those situations, and that is typically when I listen to music the most.

K-Points: 374/5

Let’s be honest, the girls of TWICE are absolutely adorable. They can pull of adorable sans issue, and I love them for that. I wish that TWICE would expand their horizons a bit more though. A number of them are in their 20s at this point, and I think that they could pull off more of a lady killer vibe quite well. Girls Generation went from cute to lady killer, why can’t TWICE?

Do I think that you should purchase a copy of this album? Despite the fact that their music doesn’t change much from release to release, yes. This is simply because they are adorable. Is this something I will consistently listen to? No, mainly because it isn’t my taste. Should you stream it? Absolutely. I think it is worth giving a listen, even if it feel so similar to everything else they have done.

What do you want to see TWICE do, K-Nuggets? Let me know in the comments!

사랑합니다!
